Sweet Sixteen

I love weddings but I love me a sweet sixteen! This weekend I got to do two. They are usually full of color, creative, young, and I really enjoy that. That first was for a good looking guy. I helped his mom make this. It was a yellow butter cake covered in a messy chocolate icing and a peanut-butter drizzled chocolate filling. Can you say rich?

This one was for a super nice client, Halie. She was throwing a sweet sixteen for her cousin whose birthday was being outshined by an older brother's graduation. I hope this cake made her feel special. It was a vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream. Simple but sooooo yummy. Hope you like:)

I spent a lot of time with this bride and her mother. We had a great time planning and creating the cakes for the big day. One thing she was sure of was the flavor. We had done a tasting and she loved the lemon berry. She was also sure it was going to be a huge wedding with lots of people. We ended up creating a simple but modern wedding cake and 7, yes I said 7, sheet cakes to go with it. They were all a dense, moist lemon cake (world's best lemon cake recipe but also most difficult and time consuming recipe) with a sweet berry filling and slathered in yummy vanilla buttercream frosting. Courtney helped me out with this one and we got to stay for the wedding and the banguet afterwards. Thanks family for helping me out with this one. Lydia, you looked gorgeous!

We did a rustic buttercream (not smooth) and put lots of olive green and deep purple fondant flowers to match her awesome invitations.This is ONE of the seven sheetcakes. They were huge and heavy but it's what they need so I was happy to do it.This is one of four of the humungo tables of food. It was all beautifully prepared and delicious. Emily's Cake ... Part 2

I already threw some pics up of this cake, but the cakes ALWAYS look better when a professional is the one taking the pics. The photographer is actually a girl who grew up in the same area as me. Before, the wedding, I was setting up and she was taking pics. I knew she was familiar and as soon as she said her maiden name I remembered her family went to church with ours. Most of the people who check my blog will know her as well. Her website is amandastephan.com but her maiden name was Swayberg. This wedding was way out in east Chandler so it was so random bumping into her. Make sure you check out her website and blog. She does amazing work!

Taryn's wedding cake was so fun to do. We found a cake online that we liked and tweaked it slightly to get what she wanted. It was a milk chocolate cake with the ultimate cream cheese frosting, covered in fondant and decorated with black royal icing. The toppers were hand made and I LOVED doing them. Susan's Wedding Cake

This cake was for a gorgeous, creative bride. When I first met with Susan, I was so impressed. She had a huge binder full of all the little details a wedding should have. I fell in love with her color scheme and all the creative and unique things she was doing for her wedding. Because we both had so many ideas for her cake, we had a really hard time deciding on the final design. I think we were both really happy with the ending result.

We decided to do a fresh, and springy lemon buttercream on a simple, plain wedding cake. She opted out of the fondant and went with an almost rustic buttercream design. It was so modern...and so affordable;) We of course had to throw on a gorgeous pink peony and some navy blue ribbon.

The reception took place at the Scottsdale Country Club.

This girl had a sweet tooth. Huge candy bar and goody table with flip flops and tons of yummy things to eat. Also, you can't see it in the pic but there was also a gelato bar! Notice the cute DIY cupcake tags.

The awesome dance floor...just a huge decal, like on your wall at home ( very DIY).

Sarah's Bridal Shower

The sister of one of my brides called me up and asked me to do up some cupcakes for the bridal shower she was throwing. She gave me full reign when it came to the design. These are chocolate cupcapakes with a rich chocolate mousse filling and vanilla buttercream icing. She put each one in little take out boxes. How cute is that!! Hope you like.

Green Wedding Shoes

These moist chocolate cupcakes were for a bridal shower themed around the bride's green shoes she would be wearing on her big day. I made the shoes from chocolate and you can't have a chocolate cupcake without a huge pillow of cream cheese buttercream!

This was a gorgeous couple that I absolutely loved working with. They were funny, brought great ideas to the table, and adored each other! They both looked great on their big day. These pics are done by the lovely Gina Meola. Take the time to check out her website. She does gorgeous work. We had a couple different flavors in this one... red velvet with cream cheese buttercream, chocolate with cream cheese buttercream, and lemon with vanilla buttercream. I hope they were happy with it. We had very different styles and they knew exactly what they wanted. I think it was a pretty good collaboration. Enjoy the pics. I think Gina did an amazing job.

Emily's Shabby Chic Wedding Cake

One of the sweetest clients a vendor could ask for. Emily was so fun to work with. Very crafty and she knew exactly what she wanted. Her colors were pink and green and made most of the decorations by hand herself. The reception was held at Inspirador and it was so light and pretty. The cake was her version of a Jim Smeal cake, whom I LOVE. Two tiers were white cake with fresh lemon buttercream. The other two were white cake with vanilla buttercream and fresh strawberries in between each layer. This cake was also a challenge. The majority of my cakes are done in fondant and this was all buttercream. I forgot how fragile it is. One bump and it all goes downhill. I'm so sorry Emily for the imperfections;)

By the way, I will be posting more often. Lots of cakes for March and April!!!

Wicked Sweet Cake!

This cake was a challenge but I loved doing it. This was for a 40th birthday obviously. The birthday girl loves the play, Wicked so of course we had do put the play's logo on the cake. The picture was assembled out of fondant cut out shapes. You can see that the regular picture has no definition but on the cake, I had to create the lines and depths for the hair, their hats, robes, etc. Thanks Cara for the challenge. By the way, it was a dark chocolate cake with dark chocolate mousse and vanilla buttercream.

That one was done in just buttercream to make it easier to eat. We did that with my son too and it was way fun.

So I got an invite last week to a potluck dinner for the Association of Bridal Consultants. I was really excited to participate because there would be a lot of great people to meet. I talked to a lot of great planners, photographers, photo booth vendors, etc. My favorite part was talking to all the great cake "ladies." Grandpa's Birthday

My hubby's grandpa just turned...yep you guessed it. 90!!!!!We had a fun birthday party for him. The food table was decorated in red, white, and blue, to celbrate his service in the military and his patriotism. He loved every minute of it. Top layer was carrot with cream cheese frosting and the bottom was a white cake with strawberry filling.

I met Michelle when I was doing my student teaching. She got married recently and I was asked to do her cake. I was so excited. Michelle is such a nice person and I was more than happy to help her out. The cake was done in ivory and white with royal icing "lace" and buttons going up the back to imitate her gorgeous dress. The top was red velvet and the bottom was white with a simple buttercream filling.

My first Inspirador Wedding

I met these great clients at an open house at Inspirador. I loved them because they know exactly what they wanted and it was awesome to work with them. The top layer of the cake is a lemon cake with vanilla buttercream filling and the bottom layer is a traditional wedding cake with a strawberry preserve filling. They wanted to offer a lot of choices for their guests so they also wanted carrot and chocolate cupcakes. All covered in buttercream (cream cheese for the carrot) and covered in a pillow of fondant. Everything was made from scratch and tasted super yummy. What a fun wedding!

Inspirador Open House

Ok. So tonight I did my first open house with Inspirador and it was so much fun. I had to come right home and post it so everyone can see how great this place is. It was so fun to meet with the great couples there and see some familiar vendors I met at the bridal expo. The first couple of pics with the blue background are shots of my display shelf in the Inspiration Lounge. Click on the pictures to see the details better.This is the cake I made for the open house. The theme was desert nights with a lot of blue and orange and teal. I did a dessert spread as well (which are becoming very popular for the bride who wants to give their guests a lot of variety) These cake bites were milk chocolate with peanut butter frosting and red velvet with cream cheese frosting.People had already started to nibble when I took this picture.The cool table at the entrance filled with gorgeous incense. The original fireplace in the courtyard. GORGEOUS!!!This courtyard is great for outdoor ceremonies or as a cocktail party space. This was a simple cake I did for a recent wedding recpetion/openhouse. It was fun to see Erika again. The cake is lemon with a hint of rasberries and a delicious almond buttercream frosting. Also, Baked Bliss will be giving out free treats at Inspirador. Milk chocolate cupcake bites with peanut butter frosting and red velvet bites with cream cheese frosting. Come see us from 5:30-7:30.

My father-in-law asked me to make a cake for my sister-in-laws birthday. I wanted to just because it was Taryn, but I also have been wanting to try some new things.

The first cake is a super moist carrot cake with cream cheese filling and a swiss meringue butter cream frosting. I had never made this type of icing before and I ended up absolutely loving it. The cream cheese filling was a new recipe too. The other cake, the more funky one was for Taryn. She wanted a chocolate fudge cake with cream cheese as well. It is covered in a thin layer of typical butter cream and in fondant. Hope you like!

OK... So the expo got us great exposure. We have alot a lot of great weddings booked and I am so excited to work with these fun brides. Can't wait to show you all the cakes we have designed. Anyways, the expo gave us a huge jumpstart. I just wanted to fill you in with whats going on with Baked Bliss. First of all, we are going to be getting an awesome website to go along with the blog. We are going to be doing a professional photo shoot in August for my cakes. So excited Nikki! It will be very vintage modern. I love it!!!! Also, we will be joining the Inspiration Lounge at Inspirador in Historic Chandler. Its a beautiful venue and we should get lots of business. We are very eager to work with the creative women there. We have quite a few cakes coming up. Can't wait to show everyone what we have been working on. A lot of them will look very similar. I have been trying to focus on one thing and do it several times for practice. I have had a couple small parties and we have done small square cakes for all of them. These pics are from My Cousin Amaile's wedding. Very cool colors! We will also have some cakes for a birthday party tonight. I will post them soon.

The black cakes were a rich fudge cake with buttercream filling and the white cakes were a simple and sweet white cake with buttercream filling and they were all covered in rolled fondant.

Phoenix Bridal Debut

First of all, thanks to my awesome hubby. He is so supportive and loving, even when I am going crazy trying to do three cakes in one week. Also Thanks to Tracee for chilling with me at the expo. Also, big thanks to all the great brides I talked to. I am really looking forward to working with each of you to design and create the perfect cake for your special occasion. It is going to be so much fun talking to you again!

Here is our little table from the expo and the cakes we brought to display. By the way, the white one was decorated with REAL buttercream frosting. People kept walking by, poking their fingers in it to see if it was fake. I don't think I would poke my finger into someone's cake whether I thought it was fake or not but it gave us a good laugh.

So I quess my youngest sister never got the oppertunity to have one of those classic Barbie birthday cakes. The one where the dress is the cake. So this year, for her 17th birthday (I know, she's a little old for this), I made her her first Barbie birthday cake. It was a Devil's food cake with buttercream frosting and gumpaste roses. She loved it! I was so happy to make it for her. Happy Birthday Courtney!!!

Congratulations Breanna!! I am so happy for you and was so excited to do your cake. It was a gorgeous wedding out at the Fireside by Del Webb Community Center. Two layers of this cake were a rich chocolate and the middle layer was the more mild, but delicious vanilla. All layers were covered in my buttercream frosting and decorated with gumpaste, hand-made flowers. Happy Honeymooning Breanna!
